Before I was given the offer, I was told during the interview that I would be placed under Cadbury. Several inductions were given throughout the course of the first week by my manager, Mei Ying. With every session, I started to get an idea about the brand positioning, performance and upcoming projects. With so many information presented at the same time, it was a bit overwhelming. I tried to absorb everything as much as possible. I was happy with the reassurance of my manager that I was not expected to understand everything at the first attempt. She also went through my key goals and task that I will be assisting and leading. I was pump and exhilarated to embark on my 12 weeks on tenure here.

I was given the chance to do a market visit on my first week. Exploring and evaluating the market through the lenses of a marketing executive is different from what we usually do when shopping. It is about observing the positioning of the product and the traffic flow at a real point of sales. With stiff competition in the chocolate industry, competitors were aggressive to secure better point of sales that allows more visibility and attraction. I was asked to observe, evaluate and develop a few suggestions for the upcoming promotion for Cadbury’s Sharebag. I managed to construct a simple presentation brief my manager on what the market is doing. Suggestions were taken into consideration for the upcoming packaging.
